IN THE 80s – WEATHERWISE AND OTHERWISE – FOR FANS AND COWBOYS AT THE TUCSON RODEO

(Tucson, Ariz.) – Contestants set the pace for high scores and fast times today at the Tucson Rodeo.  Wade Sundell, Boxholm, Iowa, scored an 86 in saddle bronc riding, Cole Edge, Coleman, Okla., clocked a 6.3 run in steer wrestling and three bull riders posted scores in the 80s. The top 12 scores in the roughstock events will qualify for the finals on March 1st; the top 12 aggregate times on two head in the timed events advance to the finals.
Perfect weather – sunny and 80 degrees – brought 5,500 fans to this opening day of the 84th annual Tucson Rodeo.Sunday is Tough Enough to Wear Pink Day, an annual event at the Tucson Rodeo to raise money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure in Southern Arizona. Gates open at 11 a.m., rodeo activities begin at 12:30 p.m.  Get tickets online, or call (520) 741-2233.
