LINDSAY SEARS ON HER WAY TO ANOTHER TUCSON TITLE; JAKE AND JIM ROSS COOPER TAKE HOME THE TOP PRIZE AT CERVI ROPING
(Tucson, Ariz. – Feb. 25, 2009) Barrel racers began their second round today and the leader is a familiar face. Lindsay Sears of Nanton, Alberta, Canada, took the second round and aggregate leads with times of 17.24 and 34.78 combined for two runs. Sears is the reigning World Champion barrel racer and the defending champion at the Tucson Rodeo.

The second round for timed events concludes Saturday, Feb. 28 with the top 12 in the aggregate in each event advancing to the finals on Sunday, March 1.

Brothers Jake and Jim Ross Cooper of Monument N.M. pocketed $14,070 each at the Mike Cervi, Jr. Memorial Team Roping at the Tucson Rodeo Grounds.  The five-head progressive team roping, held in honor of the late roper Mike Cervi, Jr. of Marana, Ariz., is an annual get together of the sport’s super loopers. Thirty-seven teams competed. Proceeds benefit the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund.

The Tucson Rodeo resumes Thursday at 12:30 p.m.  For information, call (520) 741-2233 or visit www.tucsonrodeo.com.
