Utah Bull Riders Wow the Crowd
(Tucson, Ariz.) – Traveling buddies Steve Woolsey and Wesley Silcox, both from Payson, Utah, took top honors in the second performance of the Tucson Rodeo. Woolsey scored an 84 and Silcox earned an 81 moving them in the top five in the bull riding standings through today.
Sunday’s bareback riding featured an all-star cast with five riders scoring in the 80s to move yesterday’s leader, Cimmaron Gerke to sixth position in the race to the finals.
Marana, Ariz. Cowboy Joseph posted an 8.7 edging out World Champion Stran Smith from Childress, Texas, in front of his hometown fans.
Bull rider Kyle Loudon of Brooks, Alberta, Canada was transported to University Medical Center after a head-to-head collision with Beutler & Son Rodeo’s High Noon. Loudon suffered a broken jaw and facial injuries but remained conscious and alert following the injury.
Today was Tough Enough to Wear Pink Day at the Tucson Rodeo. The annual tradition raised $10,000 for the Southern Arizona Susan G. Komen Foundation as cowboys, cowgirls and 5,700 fans supported breast cancer programs by wearing pink at today’s performance.
Monday’s slack competition begins at 8 a.m. for timed events only. Admission is $5 at the gate.
The Tucson Rodeo’s regular performances resume Thursday, Feb. 26 at 12:30 p.m.
