First Round Winners Collect Paychecks in Tie-down Roping, Team Roping and Steer Wrestling
(Tucson, Ariz.) – Arena conditions were just right for tie-down roper Jeff Chapman of Athens, Texas. Chapman clocked an 8.1 and collected the first round winner’s check at today’s slack competition at the Tucson Rodeo.
The first round in tie-down roping, team roping and steer wrestling wrapped up today at the Tucson Rodeo during slack competition. Barrel racers will complete their first round Tuesday beginning at 8 a.m.
Second round runs for steer wrestling, tie-down roping and team roping will begin Tuesday following barrel racing and will be completed on Saturday, Feb. 28. Timed event contestants must complete two rounds, with the top 12 aggregate times in each event advancing to the finals on Sunday, March 1.
The first round for bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding resumes Thursday, Feb. 26 with the top 12 in each event returning Sunday, March 1 for the finals.
